Άγαλμα του Άτλαντα, κοπιάζοντας κάτω από το βάρος του κόσμου, επάνω στα κτήρια Standard στο Hope Street, Γλασκώβη. Αποδίδεται ως έργο του γλύπτη James Young το 1890. Ο Άτλας, ένας από τους Τιτάνες της ελληνικής μυθολογίας, ήταν γιος του Τιτάνα Ιαπετού και της Ωκεανίδας Κλυμένης. Όταν οι Τιτάνες νικήθηκαν στον πόλεμο εναντίον των Ολυμπίων, ο Δίας καταδίκασε τον Άτλαντα να στέκεται στο δυτικό άκρο του ουρανού και κρατάει ψηλά τη γη στους ώμους του.

A statue of Atlas, labouring under the weight of the world, on top of the Standard Buildings in Hope Street, Glasgow. It's been attributed as the work of sculptor James Young in 1890. Atlas, one of the Titans of Greek Mythology, was the son of the Titan Iapetus and the Oceanid Klyménē. When the Titans were defeated in their war against the Olympians, Zeus condemned Atlas to stand at the western edge of the Sky and hold up the Earth on his shoulders.
